My rescue cat Ophelia is an inside cat. She seems ok with that. The life expectancy of an indoor cat is 12 – 20 years compared to 1 – 5 years for an outdoor cat. Ophelia has a multitude of windows and perches where she can comfortably watch the outdoor world. Her favorite place by far is the screened in lanai. Here she can interact with wildlife like the squirrel who is chattering at her from a nearby tree in this photo. She can even hunt and catch lizards and frogs although she hates it when I rescue them from her and set them free. Outside is sometimes a scary place to her and she is quick to seek refuge under or on a nice soft bed if there is machinery anywhere within her hearing. She is not at all fond of lawnmowers or motorcycles. She is happy, healthy and not lacking in attention or playtime in her inside environment. All and all I would say she is a pretty lucky inside cat.
