We bought our house 14 years ago and I have redone the kitchen (myself) 5 times so far. Three of the updates entailed just painting the cabinets and walls. Kitchens, in my opinion, reflect the soul of the house. Some kitchens reflect timeless styles while others reflect modern trends. My tastes (constrained within my budget) lie somewhere in between, but updating gives me a sense of renewal whether it is modern or vintage. In 2010, tired of my outdated faux wood Formica counter tops, I searched online and found a great product, Giani Granite, a multi-step paint kit which allows you to transform ugly outdated counter tops into something much more attractive and modern at a reseaonable price. I ordered the “Bombay Black” kit from Giani and I was very pleased with the results (see kitchen remodel #3 below). After five years however, I was ready for a change. My kitchen’s latest incarnation entails Giani “White Diamond” faux granite counter top paint and “Seashell Gray” (tint mixed with Cabinet Rescue) painted cabinets. I’m not going to lie, this “project” took me 4 1/2 days to complete (the cabinets being the most work intensive part) but I’m extremely pleased with the results.
